Mr. Morales

Hello KLA students and parents,

I am Mr. Morales, the new Secondary Academic Counselor here at KLA. I am taking over the role from Mrs. Williams this year. I am extremely excited to be back at KLA. Some of you may remember that I was the Counselor for Primary, but now I am in the role for Secondary.  Keiller Leadership Academy is an incredible place to be and I am really looking forward to this upcoming year.

As the Counselor, I concentrate on three specific areas; Academic, Social/Emotional and College/Career Readiness. Throughout the year, I will meet with every single student to discuss these three areas. Our focus on KLA is to make sure that students are prepared to be successful as they move on to High School and beyond. Part of that success is measured in academic progress, making sure students stay above at least 2.5 for GPA and CPA. But, in order to be academically successful, students also have to feel safe, secure and supported at school for their social/emotional well being. My counseling services provide that support in the form of individual meetings, specialized group counseling, mediations, and whole classroom curriculum. As a part of that support, I also focus on their academic progress throughout the year and identify students that may benefit from services such as our Mentor/Mentee program that provides student leaders the ability to assist other students with academic support. Another program that I will oversee, will be the Peer Mediators which gives student leaders the opportunity to help fellow students as they resolve conflicts.
This year we also have some exciting things to look forward to such as the Parent Series, College Field Trips, Career Speakers, and so much more. Please look out in the newsletter from Mrs. Sartain for more information about upcoming events.
Again, I am very excited to be back at Keiller Leadership Academy and look forward to another great year!
