Introduction Letter

Dear KLA Leaders:

Welcome Back to KLA (or welcome to KLA for those of you who are new to the school)!  I taught science here at KLA for 9 years and loved every minute of it and now teach humanities, I really enjoy being a part of the humanities department. My university focus was literature and writing, and 10 years ago I originally applied for this position, so right now feels like a real full circle moment!

What I really admire about everyone at KLA is how seriously they take leadership and our REACH values.  I try to model these values by treating everyone with respect and kindness, as well as valuing what everyone at KLA teaches me every day. My greatest hope is that at the end of the year everyone feels like they have grown and gained from the experiences both on the page and with our classmates in class.

Just in case you’re wondering, I am a dog mom to one amazing chorkie named Hazel, who shares my love of naps and sunny rooms. We like to go on adventures in our neighborhood and around the world. This summer I spent three weeks in Scotland getting to know the city of Aberdeen, watching World Cup games in the middle of the night with my family, and looking for monsters in Loch Ness. I love to travel anywhere in the world, my favorite place (for now) in the world is the country of Namibia in South Western Africa. The pictures of animals around the room are from photo safaris I have taken there in 2018 and 2024.

Right now I’m trying to decide where to go next summer, any suggestions?

THIS Is hopefully a very exciting time for you to jump into this year of reading, exploring and writing. I look forward to learning with you and from you!

Sincerely,

Tami Belmain
