Dear 4th and 5th Grade KLA Families,

My name is Mr. Isidro Barragan and this is my 10th year at KLA. This year I am excited to work with you in the 4th and 5th grade PAWS classes.

As your teacher, I want to make learning relevant and visible in your daily life experiences. We will be working hard and working smart, individually and in small groups. PAWS students will improve their math fluency, challenge their math skills, become better writers and readers.  I will also use data from interim scores and diagnostic assessments in order to target math areas for improvement. 

What is PAWS?

PAWS is an acronym for: Practice, Accelerate, What I need, Specialized Services. In this class students are to receive a variety of support, extra time to finish classwork, to get ahead and be challenged. 

Of high priority, PAWS will provide content-area intervention (math, science, humanities). This means that I will work closely with your Math, Science and Humanities teachers. There will be a strong focus on STEM activities as well.
