Keiller Leadership Academy

Clancy, James » Welcome!

Aloha Keiller Leadership Academy (KLA) Primary Grades parents and students!

My name is James Clancy, I am looking forward to have an awesome year at KLA! For the 2018-2019 school year I will be teaching Physical Education for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and focusing on the development of each student through Physical Education! This is my 3rd year teaching here at KLA and I am excited to meet the new students and parents and the returning ones as well here at KLA. I am originally from Hawai’i and moved to San Diego in 2010. I graduated from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in 2005 with my Bachelor Degree in Education: Physical Education K-12. I also received my CLAD from the University from Riverside in 2015. I have been teaching Physical Education for 5 years in Hawai’i at the High school level and been substitute teaching here in San Diego for the last 6 years. I am really thankful and blessed for returning another year to teach Physical Education here at KLA this school year (2018-2019).

Being from Hawai’i, I enjoy most water sports and have been competing in Bodyboarding events since the age of 16 years old. I also enjoy Stand Up Paddling (SUP), and hanging out with my 7 year old daughter. For the summer I did a road trip with my church High School Youth Group from San Diego to Santa Barbara and other great sites that our Youth and myself have never seen. I am looking forward to doing this again next summer!

My Goals for all of my students is to Achieve the Physical Education Standards and benchmarks at the Proficiency level. My Expectations for each student is to try their best and to give their 100% effort so we (as a team) can work toward achieving these goals! I am also looking forward to the PE Departments events that we have scheduled for this year as well with the Annual KLA Jog-A-Thon and Jumprope for Heart events. I really look forward to working with all of my students and getting to know them and their parents as well.

Let’s all have a great 2018-2019 school year. Looking forward to a great and Active school year.
