Nice To Meet You!

Dear KLA Leaders:

My name is Ms Kang and I would like to welcome to KLA all new and returning 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. I will be co-teaching a 6th,   , 7th , and 8th-grade Humanities class with Mr. Kabalican, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Hamler. I am so excited to get to know all of you!

I graduated from college at UC San Diego with a political science degree. I earned my teaching credential and Masters degree at National University. I also hold a Special Education credential earned from Azusa Pacific University. This will be my 7th year at KLA and I am hoping that we will have a productive, enriched learning experience together. I'm excited because I know that KLA has dedicated and supportive parents, students, and staff.

Some of you may know me from joining KLA dance club last year. I enjoy taking many types of dance classes to improve skills in hip hop, jazz, and contemporary dance. Currently, I am learning a lot of Tik Tok dances. Like writing, dance is a wonderful tool in fostering creativity and managing stress. I have great joy in listening to beats/music and corresponding with an interpretation of dance choreography. I hope to see some of you participating in this year’s enriched arts/dance program.

Another pastime that I enjoy includes eating out, laughing with friends, and making jewelry. I am grateful when I read the news and realize how safe and healthy I am. Sometimes I am able to learn something new about a different culture or country. Reading the news is great because it is informative, entertaining, and a great way for me to stay updated with the rest of the world. This last summer I read a really touching story about a Korean family. It was called Pachinko.

In my class, I will show leadership and expect you to do the same. I expect students to be respectful, participate in class, have a positive attitude, and most of all, have the courage to value and discover themselves as a leader this year.  We are utilizing the online Amplify curriculum to help guide students' learning as outlined in the CA Common Core curriculum.

If you or your parents have any questions or concerns about your performance in my class or would like to contact me, email me anytime at ekang@mykla.org. I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. I am looking forward to meeting and learning about each and every one of you!

Let's have a great year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Kang  6th, 7th, 8th grade Humanities Co-Teacher/ Education Specialist
