Wascinski, Evona » Home

Hello my name is Evona Wascinski (Ms. W). I've been teaching Music at KLA since 2015.

I am very exited to continue teaching music to all KLA students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Due to the current ongoing COVID safety CDC guidelines music class will look a little different for some grades.

Kindergarten - 5th grade will continue to focus on basic music skills such as listening, singing, movement and note and rhythm reading. Other topics we will be focusing on is instrument identification, different music from around the world, music history and we will also learn about famous musicians/ composers.

We will be using sanitized classroom percussion instruments, drums and xylophones to learn how to learn to read and perform music. Each student will have an instrument they will be using in class that will be sanitized before and after each use.

My 6th though 8th grade music students will be focusing on stringed instruments such as guitar, bass and violin.

Drums and piano will also be available. This is more of an ensemble class and the goal is to prepare music repertoire for performances on campus. Music theory will also be taught.

A little background information on me:

I received an Associates Degree in Music from Grossmont College and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Music from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). In my studies I focused on classical double bass performance and Jazz Studies. I'm currently working on my masters in eduction at National University.

Outside of teaching, I play music professionally with various groups around town.

In my spare time I love to spend time with my 8 year old son Sebastian and my family.

I love to go out to listen to and perform music, read, ride bikes, exercise, do yoga and spend lots of time outdoors.
