Leadership Studies:

KLA COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS

1) Chart student responses based on mission statement: What does it mean to be a contributing member of our diverse community?

2) Go over page (R.E.A.C.H Community Service/Volunteer Tracking Form) in student agenda- what are the limitations

3) Add to chart: What are specific examples of ways a student can perform any community service?

4) Refer to page 9 of agenda- "Agency Information" form and go over how to fill out.

 

 

9/17 How do KLA leaders demonstrate what they learned in College Class?

Quick Questions:

1)  What did you learn in last week's college class?

2)  What are some ways the you demonstrate the "R" in REACH?

1)  As a class, review the college class powerpoint. *Powerpoint is available for teachers via Google Docs*

1)  On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being an expert), how proficient are you with computers?

2)  On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being an expert), how good are you at navigating through the internet?

"Student Internet Acceptable Use" Jigsaw

**Download this document

1) Organize students into 8 groups

2) Assign each group one of the 8 sections (** marked sections require more work from a group-print one copy and cut into designated sections)

3) Have each group chart the important details of their assigned section using the guiding questions/directions provided

4) Prepare a presentation to the class.  Each group should decide who is going to say what and have a good idea of what they expect their audience's notes to look like as they present

5) If time permits, groups begin presenting.  If time does not permit, do a gallery walk of the important ideas.

9/9-9/10 How do KLA leaders demonstrate that they know how to use the internet appropriately?

Quick Questions:

1) What do you now know about proper internet use at KLA?

2) List examples of things that are inappropriate to do according to the Student Internet Acceptable Use Agreement.

1)  What do you know about "TSMP's"?

2)  What do you think is the purpose of the TSMP?

3) What did you learn from college class?

 

Organization:

Check student agendas

 

Warm Up:

1)  Chart and discuss the acronym for "TSMP"

2)  Turn to page 14 of the student handbook section of the Student Agenda and go over together.

 

Leadership Studies:

1)  Create a flow chart of the BIP as you walk through the violations.

2)  Model filling out a TSMP - provide a copy for each students so that they can fill one out as you model.

 

CLOSING/EXIT SLIP:  How does the TSMP help to build relationships between two people who are involved in a conflict?

 

9/3 How do KLA leaders use their student agenda?

Quick Questions:

1) What do you now know about REACH values?

2) What do you know about using a student agenda?

**Turn & talk w/ a partner about your responses to your quick questions.

Hand out student agendas and review student agenda expectations using the student agenda rubric.
